Newspaper Produces Charter For Wives

LONDON, May 17. A charter for wives has been produced by the “Daily Sketch," which offered a 501 b flitch of bacon to wives who. with the agreement of their husbands, provided the clauses. There are 10 of them so far
and they are—A wife has the right: To expect her husband to be as loving, gentle and kind as he was during their days of courtship; To receive money for her own personal use and not have ’to take it from her housekeeping money; To know how much her husband earns every week; To a fair share of garden for her flowers even if her husband does think vegetable more essential; To expect her husband to go shopping at week-ends to see where the money goes; To talk things over with her husband before he makes any big decisions concerning both parties; To expect her husband to take the children out once a week on Saturday or Sunday; To an increase of her housekeeping money when her husband gets a rise in his wages; To tenderness and understanding, a shoulder to lean on; To expect her husband to stay in to baby-sit once a week while she goes out for the evening. The “Daily Sketch’’ is asking for five more clauses, with five more flitches as prizes.
