BIG AIRLIFT PLANNED

N.Z. Conference In Australia

The biggest airlift of persons from New Zealand Io Surfers’ Paradise, on the Australian Gold Coast, will take place on June 17 when about 300 electrical dealers will travel to Australia in four chartered Electra aircraft.

The plan was announced in Christchurch at a meeting of electrical dealers by the sales director of Philips Electrical Industries (New Zealand), Ltd., (Mr M. H. Harding).

The dealers will attend a 10-day conference at Surfers' Paradise. They may be accompanied by their wives on the trip, which is being paid for by the company. During the conference the leaders will stay at the Chevron Hotel, which has been completely booked for them. Arrangements have been made for tours of the Gold Coast and the party will be accorded a civic welcome on its arrival in Australia.

Some of the dealers will also take part in television interviews in Sydney. As far as is known, it will be the first time a New Zealand conference has been held in Australia. It is not the first time that the company has arranged unusual venues for conferences. One previous staff conference was held over three days on the inter-island steamer express, and another in some railway carriages.
