HOTEL NEAR AIRPORT

Big Company Interested

“A very, very large organisation with a head office in Auckland has shown interest,” Cr. A. R. Guthrey. chairman of the airport committee, told the City Council last evening. He was referring tc the council’s calling of tenders for the building of a hotel-motel near the Christchurch airport.

There had been some other inquiries, Cr. Guthrey said. The tig organisation would not be able to put in a tender by the end of May, which had been fixed as the closing date, but its representatives had said they would let the council know within a few days if it was going to proceed with a tender.

The council agreed that the closing date for tenders could be extended if necessary.
