Women's Section of RS. A. —Miss S Britton presided at the recent social afternoon held by the Women’s Section of the Christchurch Returned Services’ Association. The guest speaker was Miss H K. Lovell-Smith who spoke of the work of the National Council of Women.

Literary Circle.—Mrs H. P Wise presided over a good attendance at a recent meeting of the literary circle of the Canterbury Women’s Club, and six new members were welcomed. Vocal items were given by Miss Doreen Udell, accompanied by Mrs R. S. Storie. The guest speaker was Mrs J- Staples, whose subject was “The Career of a Journalist.”
