SUMMER SEA CRUISES
German-Manned Ship A Dutch ship, the Seven Seas, which normally operates between Bremerhaven. Le Havre, Southampton, and Montreal, will visit Lyttelton during the summer as part of her itinerary on two summer cruises. Based at Bremerhaven the ship is registered in West Germany and is manned by a German captain and crew.
The Seven Seas, which is operated by Royal Rotterdam Lloyd, will call at Lyttelton on both cruises and Dunedin on the first eruise over Christmas. Passengers will be able to embark and disembark at both ports, according to the New Zealand agents (Russell and Somers (Wellington). Ltd.) On the Christmas cruise the Seven Seas will visit Australian ports and will
leave from Auckland on December 19. She will visit Wellington on December 21. Lyttelton on December 22. and Dunedin on December 23. Christmas Day will be spent at Milford Sound, and then the ship will travel to Hobart, staying two days. Melbourne (two days), Sydney (two days), and return to New Zealand by way of Lyttelton on January 8, 1962, and arrive at Wellington on January 9.
On the second cruise in January the Seven Seas will visit Tonga, American Samoa, Fiji, and New Caledonia. The ship will leave Lyttelton on January 8. From there she will visit Wellington on January 9 and Auckland on January 11. She will then spend 20 days cruising in the Pacific and will return to Wellington on January 31. The Christchurch agent for the cruises is A. R. Guthrey. Ltd.
