NEWSPRINT MACHINE

World’s Fastest For Kawerau (Special Crspdt N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, May 10. A new machine to be installed at the Tasman Pulp and Paper Company’s mill at Kawerau is likely to be the fastest running newsprint machine in the world.

With a designed speed of more than 2500 ft a minute, the machine should, in 1963, bring the mill’s newsprint capacity to some 200,000 tons a year. The bulk of this output will go to Australia. This development is mentioned in the annual report of the Bowater Paper Corporation. It says that engineering of this second machine for the mill is already in hand.
