Warning Lights Ignored ?
Sir, —In a report on the editorial page of your paper on Monday was a statement
that passing motorists ignored warning lights at the scene of a collision on the Main South road at Tinwald on Friday evening. As one of those who drove past without noticing anything amiss until opposite the damaged vehicles, I would point out that the lights were indistinguishable from the many other traffic lights at the time, and that the traffic officer himself in his camouflage of black and white was almost invisible. To help to reduce further danger after such accidents at night. I suggest a white coat for the traffic officer and a better warning system than was used on this occasion to gain the attention of approaching traffic.—Yours, etc., G. B. GERARD.
