Gaoled For Theft

(N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 9. An Irish workman, James Fenton, aged 54. was sent to gaol for a year by Mr W. S. Spence, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, Auckland, today for the theft of £1390 in money from an elderly Scotsman, Alexander Macmillan, when they were both staying in a Salvation Army hostel in Auckland one night last week. Fenton was convicted of the offence last week and appeared for sentence today. All the money was recovered.
