Soccer UNREGISTERED PLAYERS
Concern Expressed By Association The management committee of the Canterbury Football Association, at its meeting last evening, expressed concern at the, number of players regularly appearing in inter - club competition matches who have not been registered by their clubs. Also, there are still several players who have not yet had clearances from their former clubs approved by the association’s classification committee. A player joining a new club is required to obtain a clearance from his former club before playing again. The convener of the association’s classification committee (Mr R. van der Monde) read to the committee a long list of names of players who were not yet registered, although five rounds of competition have been played. These players, who have appeared during the last three Saturdays, include several who have taken the field for their club's first division sides. No Points The Thistle club will be informed that its teams have scored no points this season as clearances have not been presented for several of its players who have previously appeared with other clubs. “This club has been told that these players’ clearances must be in the hands of the Canterbury Football Association,” said the chairman (Mr J. Smith), Mr van der Monde reported that no registrations had been received for lower grade teams of University, Wigram and Linwood High School clubs. Several committee members suggested that the offending clubs should be suspended if they did not take prompt action to clear up these complaints.
