Council Letter To Board Governor’s Bay residents recently formed a Are party after a house in the township burned down. a«d the Mount Herbert County Council has asked the '’hristeburch Metropolitan Fire Board whether it can provide any fire-fighting ocinnment. The hoa-d at its meeting last evening discussed a ’etter from the council and decided to take no the matter with the Fire Service Co”nc’l. Tn its letter, the countv council said that there must always be a delay in the arrival of the Irttelton fire onoin” at ar.’’ fire at Governor’s Bav. because of the windin'’ road connecting the toc’nshin with Lvttelton. The letter said the fire nartv wov'd be trained bv a *ormer Christchurch Fire Brigade fire officer, and asked whether the board could heln by supplying equipment. The hoard’s secretary (Mr B. F Marshall) said that before anvthing could be done approval bv the Fire Service Council would be necaggary. The board decided to advise the countv council what action it was taking and to say its reouest had the board’s sympathetic consideration.
