Ohl Abandoned Cars

Sir.—l have no objection to old cars provided that they are kept in their best condition but I have a real dislike for them when they are just parked on the side of the road and left to rust away. By now every user of Papanui road will have noticed an old Car parked opposite Rugby street. It has been there for two months and has obviously been abandoned but the police and the Transport Department say they are to shift it unless it creates a danger. While this car could not be called a hazard it is certainly a hindrance as well as being a real eyesore. If the bylaws protect these cars then it seems to me that some laws should be changed to keep up with the times.—Yours, etc, PAPANUI ROAD RESIDENT. May 8, 1961.
