Demonstration Against S.A.
(N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND. May 8. Four women of a local joint committee for the boycott of South African goods demonstrated outside an Auckland hotel today with placards protesting against a South African trade mission which is trying to promote trade between New Zealand and South Africa. What the women did not know was that the trade mission, which is staying at the hotel, was at the time at the Department of Industries and Commerce offices. The joint committee consists of the Women’s Union and the Unitarian Social Justice Committee. Its secretary (Mrs D.
Wilsie) said that New Zealand should not import goods from South Africa while its Government conducted the policy of apartheid.
