HARBOUR CLAIM

Hearing At Bluff (N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, May 8. The hearing of a claim for an amount of more than £500,000 arising from the construction of the Bluff harbour will take place at Bluff at the end of this month. The former Commissioner of Works (Mr E. R. McKillop) has been appointed arbitrator for the hearing which will open on May 29. It is expected to continue for up to three weeks. The claim is brought by the contractors, Societe Nationale de Travieux Publico and associated companies, who will be represented by Mr R. J. Gilbert (Dunedin). The defendant is the Bluff Harbour Board, represented by Mr A. G. Neill, Q.C. (Dunedin), and with him Mr H. K. Carswell (Invercargill). The basis of the claim is an allegation by the contractors that the physical conditions found on the project differed from those they had been led to believe existed as mentioned in the conditions of the contract
