ROYAL TOUR
Rest In Florence
(N.Z Press Assn.—Copyright) FLORENCE. May 8.
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will rest in Florence today after their State visit to Italy and private visit to Venice, British United Press reported. They are staying at the Villa Sparta, owned by the former Queen Helen of Rumania, a first cousin of the Duke of Edinburgh. They dined early last night and the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh retired to their rooms without leaving the villa.
Tomorrow they leave by air for brief' visits to Milan and Turin before flying back to London.
The Queen’s visit has been one of the most successful State visits to Italy since the war.
The Royal couple were greeted everywhere with a sincere enthusiasm that rarely, if ever, has been shown to a visiting head of State. The enthusiasm has not come from organised demonstrations, but from the people themselves. They have waited in the streets for hours for a mere glimpse of the Queen as she passed.
