Overseas Invitations To Halberg, Snell, Magee

WELLINGTON, May 3. New Zealand’s Olympic Games medallists, M. G. Halberg, P. G. Snell, and A. B. Magee, are in strong demand these days. Invitations have been sent to them through the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to compete in meetings in Finland (second World Games) and Athens (a large international meeting). The selectors are asked to name a fourth runner for the Finnish meeting. For the meeting in Greece, invitations have been sent to the world's leading 800.

1500, 5000, and 10,000-metre : runners. As the Finnish meeting is . on July 5 and 6 and the I other on August 15-20, the New Zealanders will probl ably compete at only one, as r athletes are allowed only 28 ; days’ competition overseas t annually.
