Riccarton Racecourse
Sir,—May I hasten to congratulate Mr Grigg and his fine committee on the-ir timely and welcome decision to erect a new stand at Riccarton racecourse. For many years shortage of stand accommodation has been the one think lacking at otherwise attractive and well-run meetings. This extremely wise move will, I feel sure, be welcomed alike by members, intending members, and race patrons in general. The new stand being built in concrete, may I suggest to Mr Grigg and his committee that some noise - deadening material be incorporated in the walls and floors of. at least the luncheon rooms and the two bars. It is irritating and distracting to have noise reverberating from ceilings, walls and floors. In the meantime, perhaps the club would consider a suggestion that car stickers be sold to intending members for a guinea or so a meeting, naturally restricted to a certain number, as are the extra badges issued for each meeting.—Yours, etc., INTENDING MEMBER May 2. 1961.
