No Bare Feet In Australia

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, May 3. The first Fijian soccer team to visit Australia since before World War II flew into Sydney today surprised at reports they were going to play in bare feet. Reports have been circulating through Sydney recently saying the Fijian team would follow the custom of the previous team, which played without boots. The last Fijian Rugby Union team to play in Australia also had several players Who preferred to play barefooted. At Sydney airport today members of the soccer team treated the whole idea as a great joke. “No shoes—we’d end up with duh feet in a week..” the coaeh. Mr Sash: Singh, said. The Fijians are in Australia at the invitation of the N.S.W. Junior Soccer Association. The team of 17 will play 14 matches during their tour.
