Decisive Win At Ashburton
Playing with better combination and tactics, and showing more accuracy In goal shooting, the Latter Day Stints' mens Indoor basketball team decisively defeated Canterbury A by 78 points to 38 in the Ashburton Sports Hall last evening. A good crowd ot about 300 saw a fast game with the ball moving freely among al! players. Canterbury was slow to settle down and was overwhelmed by brilliant play by the Americans. Many shots attempted by Canterbury went astray. Al halftime the score was 43 pointe to 15. against Canterbury. In the second half both teams played fast basketball with the advantage to the Latter Day Saint*. Canterbury again missed with many shots. < For th* Latter Day Saints, J. Watt*, the captain, was the top scorer with « point*. G. Watts •cored 21 and D. Chrlstansen 12. R. EntwhisUe scored 8 pointe tor Canterbury, while the captain (W. Smith) and R. Bumby each scored 7. In an earlier game Canterbury B women's team beat MidCanterbury 44 pointe to 22. For Canterbury. J Gaskill scored 14 points j>. Jarvt* 12 and B. Smith, the captain, A. For if. Dolan •cored 10. H. Docker 8. and C. Thompson 4.
