F.O.L. OPPOSES WAGE CLAIM
Direct Action On Job Favoured
(N.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 3. The Federation of Labour conference today had expressed itself generally in favour of action on the jobs on the question of seeking higher margins and ruling rates of pay, said the president. Mr F. P. Walsh, this afternoon. The conference was opposed to taking the case to the Arbitration Court, he said. Asked if this meant the conference was advocating direct action on the jobs in pursuit of increases in pay. Mr Walsh replied: ‘‘l expect they were thinking they might ask them to get down and pray for their rises.”
