No Flying For R.NZ.A.F.

The short season spent at Scott Base in Antarctica by a small RN.Z.A.F detachment was used to good advantage in preparing for future activities in the area said Flight Lieutenant P. S. Rule, leader of the party. Because no replacement had been made of the Beaver aircraft, lost the previous season, no flying was done but work was continued on the hangar started a year ago and a start made on providing workshop facilities. The crate in which the Beaver aircraft was taken to Scott Base was converted into a flight store. The spares and equipment for the Beaver were returned to New Zealand, as was the Auster Aircraft which “has outlived its usefulness in the Antarctic.” he said.
