New Pipelines Approved

The Lyttelton Borough Council has approved applications by the Standard Vacuum Oil Company to construct a six-inch pipeline between Naval Point and the Godley quay installation at Lyttelton, and also to erect an overhead pipeline near the graving dock, subject to the pipeane complying with the electrical regulations, as set out by the electrical overseer of the borough. The council has also approved the erection of a baffle wall and roof over the pumphouses of the company’s bulk installation, at a cost of £l4OO. The baffles are to deaden or minimise the noise of pumping operations, complaints about which had been received from residents near the installation.
