Emphasis was on medium ' qualities. Scoured Merinos were 2j per cent, dearer, scoured | crossbreds appreciated 2J to 5 per cent, and filipes Were in sellers’ favour st par to 2i J?* r cent ' hi < her - . The greasy crossbred selection generally was only of average style, drawn mainly from Wellington. Gisborne, New Plymouth, and Invercargill areas. Most scoured wools were from the South Island and the offering included some fair style Merinos. Stipes were predominant from January and December pullings in a moderate and rather miscellaneous section. A total of 8100 bales of New Zealand wool are catalogued, consisting of 3700 in grease, 2100 scoured, and 2300 slipes. SYDNEY WOOL SALES Values Rule Fully Firm (NAC. Press Assn.—CtmyriaM) SYDNEY. April 27. All descriptions of Merino fleece and skirtings ruled fully firm on yesterday’s prices at Sydney wool sales today—the second day of the series. Comebacks, crossbreds and cardings were in keen demand, and, again. values were unchanged, according to "the Sydney Woolselling Brokers’ Association. Competition was strong and animated particularly from Japan—for the 14.434 bales offered for sale; 14.281 bales were cleared. Eastern Europe. Western Europe and Britain supplied good competition. Comebacks and crossbreds offered a total of about 1500 bales at today’s sales. Crossbred prices.—Good average 60’s, 70jd; good average 50’s, 66jd; average 60/64’s, 65id.
