ISLANDS CRUISES
Two Yachts Departing (N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI. April 27. The 28ft Whangarei ketch. Kehua, will leave as soon as the weather is suitable for Tahiti, where the crew expects to arrive in time for the island's celebration of Bastille Day on July 14. Another yacht, the 40fl sloop. Restless, is due to sail from Whangarei in about a week for Brisbane, by way of Lord Howe Island. On board the Kehua are the co-owners. Messrs Matheson and Ashcroft, and Mr F Carver, of Whangarei. and Mr J. Studd, of Morningside, Auckland. On board the Restless will be Mr and Mrs H. Hansen, of Dargaville, their children, and a teen-age friend. Miss Christine Roberts, of Tauranga. Mrs Hansen has arranged correspondence lessons for her school-age children to cover a six months’ cruise. The Kehua arrived back in New Zealand last November from a seven months’ islands cruise, during which she was driven ashore at Rarotonga by the big tidal wave which swept the Pacific last year. She had prel viously gone ashore at Whakatane during the Suva race about three years ago.
