Compulsory System Supported Unanimous support for the present system of compulsory unionism "was given at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Hotel, Hospital. Restaurant. and Related Trades Union. “We consider the present system is the only fair and equitable , way: otherwise, non-members benefit just as much from union gains." said the secretary (Mr L. N. Short) yesterday. Officers elected were: president, Mr A. Tremain; vicepresident. Mr J. E. Chittenden; executive, Mesdames D. Palmer, I. Clarke, Messrs R. Ferguson, J Bakerman, F. Heal, M. Rhodes; trustees. Messrs S. Cpppen and A. Shepperd. ’
