“Advice To Kennedy” (N.ZJ’.A -Reuter—Copyright > NEW YORK, April 27. President Kennedy was urged by some of his top advisers to use United States military forces last Wednesday to aid the Cuban invasion. but he rejected the idea, it was reported today. The New York “HeraldTribune” said in a Washington dispatch that the suggestion was made to the President “when it became apnarent that the invasion of Cuba by Administrationbacked rebels was about to end in disaster.” The newspaper recalled that Mr Kennedy had flatly rejected the deployment of United States troops in Cuba, but added that the idea “has not entirely been ruled out as a possible course of action. according to top officials.” The “Herald - Tribune" said a central conclusion could be drawn from the events last week, as underscored by the fact that lastminute use of United States forces was urged. "The United States Government had no dear idea of what the invasion was to accomplish.” the newspaper said.
