TONNAGE
Since the reopening of the port on November 16. 1958, more than 63,000 tons of cargo has been handled with the Ranganui making 75 round trips, the Paroto 79, the Picton 27, and the Taupata three. Illustrating the speed with which cargo is handled through Kaiapoi, an agent for the Inter-Island Shipping Company said cargo is available in Christchurch from one hour after the start of discharge at Kaiapoi.
