Scott Base Cook’s Ordeal fltZ. Press Association) _ SCOTT BASE. April 4. The cook at Scott Base, Mr K. Fairclough, is an avid fllmgder no more. His last jaunt •to the cinema at the nearby American base at McMurdo could have cost him his life. Last week Mr Fairclough set off on foot to McMurdo. He took with him his pet, a female husky named Zsa Zsa. By the time the picture show was over Zsa Zsa had chewed through her lead and disappeared. Mr Fairclough set off for home, calling for her. He found his way through the gap. but. when he reached the I<Wt iD the Antarctic -night. When he tailed to appear back.at base three men went out in a weasel to look for him. Mr Fairclough saw the lights of the vehicle, shouted, but no-one heard him. But the direction of the
weasel’s lights pinpointed the way and he finally got home, after a narrow escape. Zsa Zsa fqund her own way home.
