FIGHT OUTSIDE TRADES HALL
Two Youths Each Fined £4O
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 4. Allegations that 16 youth* ganged up on them, swinging punches and kicking them on the ground outside the Trades Hall soon after midnight on April 1 were made by one of two brothers in the Magistrate's Court at Wellington today. Edward Davis, aged 20, truck driver, and Harry Davis, aged 21, a workman, each pleaded guilty tc two different charges of assault. Mr M. B. Scully, S.M., convicted and fined both £2O on each of the two charges. The police prosecutor (Mr M. Brown) said that at 12.30 a.m. on April 1, Michael Jessett was struck by Harry Davis. His brother, Edward Davis, joined in the ensuing fight and also struck Jessett. Brian Idris George went to the assistance of Jessett and he, in turn, was assaulted by both the accused, said Mr Brown. "The accused were themselves victims of an assault later on and both had to receive medical attention,” Mr Brown said.
