Stirling Moss, of Britain, beat Bruee McLaren, of New Zealand, by less than a ear's length In winning the La van t Cup at Goodwood today. McLaren had the fastest lap of Imin 30.4 see in the 50-mile. 21-lap race. The winner's average aqpeed was 90.47 miles an hour. Race at Pau At Pau. France, petrol pump trouble knocked the Australian world driving champion. Jack Brabham, out of today’s grand Srtx on the twisting round-the-ouses course. The race, the first under the new regulations for Formula I cars, was won by Britain’s Jim Clark, driving a Lotus. He covered the 100-lap course, over 1714 miles, in 2hr 42min o.3sec, at an average speed of just over 63.5 miles an hour. Joachim Bonnier (Sweden) was second, and lx>renzo Bandini (Italy), driving a Maserati, was third. Nineteen oars started and only six crossed the finishing line.
