Canterbury Driver Wins Three Titles

A Christchurch driver. K. Jackson, gained three titles at the first South Island Gokart championships conducted under the rules of the New Zealand Go-kart Federation and held by the Geraldine Go-kart Club at Winchester on Saturday. A crowd of about 1500 watched more than 70 competitors in 69 events. Competitors came from Otematata to North Canterbury. Timaru drivers won three titles, and the open championship was won by Jackson. Results are:— Up to 150 c.c.: J. A. Smillie (Timaru) 1, R. Cairn (Ashburton) 2, M. Slattery (Ellesmere) 3. 150 to 200 c.c.: G. Duff (Timaru) 1, K. Jackson (Christchurch) 2. 200 to 250 c.c.: D. Knauf (Timaru) 1, R. Thompson (Christchurch) 2, B. M. Donald (Timaru) 3. All-class open championship: K. Jackson 1, G. Duff 2, J. A. Smillie 3.

Most points at the championships: G. Duff.
