SYDIIEZ, April 4. The chairman of the Australian Wool Bureau (Sir William Genn) left here today by air for London to meet the chairman of the New Zealand Wool Board (Mr J. Acland) and the chairman of the South African Wool Bureau (Dr. G. Van De Wath). The thr£e will interview overseas applicants for the newly-created position of general manager of the International Wool Secretariat. Sir William Genn said he would return to Sydney early next month for an Australian graziers’ meeting to discuss the higher levy proposal for wool promotion. The Wool Bureau has proposed that the 5s a bale levy that woolgrowers now pay the bureau for research and promotion be increased to 10s a bale. Australian woolgrowers’ associations have accepted the proposal, but it has been opposed by the Australian Wool and Meat Producers’ Association. Sir William Genn said he was confident. agreement could be reached at the Sydney meeting.
