RECEPTION OF DEBUTANTES
Officers Of Forces Now Restricted (N2 Press Association) TIMARU. April 4. Serving officers of the New Zealand Armed Forces may no longer participate as official guests in functions where debutantes are presented. This advice was received at a recent meeting of the Fairlie Returned Services Association from GroupCaptain S. G. Quill, officer commanding the R.N.ZAF Station. Wigram, in declining an invitation to himself and Mrs Quill to attend the branch's annual debutante ball. Group-Captain Quill wrote that following protocol now observed by. Queen Elizabeth and also by Government House in New Zealand, it was now firm policy not to participate in debutante (functions. He expressed best wishes for the success of the function. The branch has customarily had a high-ranking officer from one of the three services to receive debutantes at its ball and it was decided to seek the permission of the American Antarctie headquarters in Christchurch for one of its officers to attend as official guest and receive the debutantes.
