SILVER 10s
British Issue Possible
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright) LONDON, April 4.
The Royal Mint is thinking of issuing a new silver coin of a value yet to be decided but possibly 10s, according to the “Daily Telegraph.” A 10s denomination would make it particularly useful if Britain decided to change to decimal coinage, it said. Britain was at present the only European country without a silver coin. It had more decorative qualities than the cupro-nickel now used because it allowed a deeper relief. Other countries had found that silver encouraged saving—and respect for the coinage.
