THEOLOGIAN TO VISIT CITY
Dr. Toyotome, Of Japan The executive secretary of the Japanese Evangelical Missionary Society (Dr. Masumi Toyotome) will visit Christchurch this month. He will give an address at the University of Canterbury. Dr. Toyotome’s visit has been arranged by the InterVarsity Fellowship of Evangelical Unions. He will also give addresses at Victoria and Otago Universities. Dr. Toyotome, born in Japan, was educated in the United States where he received a master of arts degree in physical chemistry. He is a graduate of Union Theological Seminary, and has also been granted the degree of doctor of philosophy in religion from Columbia University. For several years he served the International Christian University in Tokyo, as assistant professor of Christianity and director of religious life and programme. At the Universities of California and Toronto he has already conducted gatherings similar to those he will conduct in New Zealand. The aim of the addresses which Dr. Toyotome will deliver is to confront the students with the relevance of the Christian faith to the issues of life.
