Movement Towards European Unity (From Our OxOn Reporter) . TIMARU, April 3. The First Secretary (Agriculture and Wool) of the United Kingdom High Commissioner’s Office (Mr J. Eaton) speaking at the opening of the Mackenzie County Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s show at Fairlie today, said there had been a lot of talk about the European Common Market, and whether Britain and the Commonwealth should be associated with it or not. “It is a long and complicated subject.” he said. It was something that had to be faced and sorted out in a constructive way. "The European Common Market is a movement of history. We have to get used to it It is no use sitting down and saying we would rather stay where we are.” The movement towards European unity was going to preserve a free way of life, as opposed to the Communist way of life. Mr Eaton said.
