LONDON April 3. Joe Jordan and his wife, Alice, had their 2900th quarrel tonight. And they will certainly have another tomorrow, for they have had a row every night since their wedding day. according to the "Daily Express.” It was in 1953, when Joe. at the end of the top-hat-and-tails reception, said to Alice: "Right, love, now we’ll go home." ’ Whose home?” asked Alice, and the row started Joe. now 83, and Alice, now 77 both had homes of their own Alice said “I’m not living in your house,” and Joe said “I’m not living in your house.” So on their wedding night Joe went back to his house in Kinver. Worcestershire. Alice went back to hers in another part of the village They have gone their separate ways every night since. First though, they have a drink together in the Old Plough public house. Then, at closing time it will start again . whose home? This morning, like every other day for the last eight
years, Alice, a twice-widowed mother of 14, was round at Joe’s place cleaning and cooking for him. Alice said today: “Joe’s the man I wanted to marry but he’s p. funny old blighter about where to live. He knew I wouldn’t leave my home when we married. Then he had the cheek to try to tell me to live at his old place. “Still he’s my man and I’ve got to look after him. Of course I’d like to live with him all the time, but as we’re both getting on I don’t reckon it matters so much.” Joe. a father of 14 by a previous marriage, said: “We see each other every day and we’re happily married “We’re a darned sight happier than a lot of couples I know who get on each other’s nerves being together every minute of the day. “I’ve got a good home and Alice can come and live here any time It’s worked out grand because she never has.” Joe said. Both families have tried in vain to get them to eut costs by living together. So tomorrow night in the bar of the Old Plough. Joe and Alice will have row No. 2901.
