OUR OWN EASILY

Stakes Win Our Own, the leading three-year-old trotter of the season, gave an outstanding display of trotting to win the Canterbury Park Trotting Stakes. She was steadied in fourth or fifth place most of the way and she fought on strongly to win well. Our Own. a filly bv Light Brigade from Rewa Scott, is trained at Templeton by D G. Jones, who races her in partnership with Mr W. A. Craddock, of Westport. John Black went to the front at the end of three furlongs and a half. He was ioined by Kerry Keel racing to the straight. Our Own being three lengths back, followed by Front Line. John Scott, and Arizona Gal. John Black was soon in trouble and Our Own was challenged by Front Line, which went to a break just short of the line. Our Own held on to win by a length and a half. Front Line broke at the start and again at the end of a furlong and a half. He did not show confidence on the bends and in the circumstances he did well to finish so close up. He trotted his last mile and a half in 3min 13 4-ssec. his final four furlongs in Imin 1 4-ssec, and his last quarter l in 30 4-ssec.

Front Line was subsequently relegated to third for galloping over the line and bis stablemate. John Black, which finished a length and a half behind him. was promoted.

Arizona Gal battled on for fourth two lengths away, seven lengths in front of Kerry Keel, which broke at the furlong. John Scott was half a length away, clear of Flaming Way.
