AWARD SCHEME FOR YOUTHS

Official From U.K. In N.Z. (N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND. April 2. The Duke of Edinburgh’s award scheme for young people was a much more comprehensive one than such a movement as Outward Bound, the assistant-secretary of the scheme (LieutenantColonel V. A. J. Heald, of London), said in Auckland on Saturday. It was more continuous and covered a wider field, he said on his arrival from Sydney by air. Colonel Heald said that in the countries he had visited recently he had found tremendous enthusiasm for the scheme. He was met at the airport by officers of the Auckland battalion of the Boys’ Brigade which has adopted the award scheme. In his four days in New Zealand Colonel Heald will discuss the scheme with youth movement officials.
