IMAM OF YEMEN
Deterioration Of Condition <N Z P A.-Reuter —Copyrtpht 1 ADEN. March 31. Three men have been arrested and charged with the recent attempted assassination of the Imam of Yemen at Hodeidah, the British United Press reported. A court of inquiry at Hodeidah has revealed that a fourth man. Lieutenant Alulufi. committed suicide after the attempt failed The other three are identified as Hamid Alquamadi. Lieutetiant Luqui and Sberif Ku hum The attack occurred when the Imam was visiting a hospital at Hodeidah for an examination. and left his bodyguard outside As soon as he entered the hospital lights went off and shooting started. Lieutenant Alulufi escaped in the dark, but was followed by two of the Imam's bodyguard. He shot one and was told by the other that the Imam was still living He then committed suicide. The Imam was hit twice in the thigh and in the shoulder Doctors are trying to remove the bullet from his shoulder The Imam is in a serious condition and is having blood transfusions. Troops with machine-guns and armoured cars are guarding his palace. His doctors are not allowed to leave his bedside
