TROTTING FRONT LINE PICKED TO WIN AGAIN

Special Trotters’ Race At Addington Today Front Line, a stylish winner over 12 furlongs at New Brighton last week, is expected to win again in the Canterbury Park Trotting Stakes at Addington today. This race, which is for three and four-year-old trotters, will be one of the highlights of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s autumn meeting. Unfortunately, the race has drawn a field of two-dividend proportions, but Front Line’s meeting with Our Own should compensate for this.

Front Line last Saturday gave Our Own a start of 24 yards, but this week there is a difference of 38 yards between them. Front Line should be stronger in stamina than his younger rival and the extra furlong at Addington should help him to win. Our Own is a grand Ally. She attempted to spreadeagle the field at New Brighton. but found Front Line's finishing run too strong. Front Line’s task was made more difficult when he had to work hard to clear a pocket near the three furlongs. Front Line and Our Own should be too good for their opponents in this field. John Black will be bracketed with Front Line and could be a place prospect, while Kerry Keel and John Scott should also race prominently. Another interesting meeting will be that between two outstanding three-year-olds in King Hal and Jay Ar in the Otley Handicap. King Hal gave further evidence of his class when he won the twomile Burwood Handicap at New Brighton last Saturday. He appeared to begin much better than he has in some of his races and will only have to repeat that to win in this field, which does not look particularly strong. Highland Heath could be the hardest for King Hal to beat. He was a good third to Johnny Guitar and Oay Baron in a sprint at Hutt Park on March 6 at his most recent appearance. This field does not look as strong az that he met at Wellington and he should again earn some of the stake. Two Wins

Jay Ar was unbeaten in his last two starts, the most recent of which was at Hutt Park on March 6 when he beat Slick Chick by seven lengths and a half after pae-

ing the 10 furlongs in 2min 41 4-ssec. Jay Ar has trained on in grand style since that win and if he makes one of his better beginnings, should be a hard horse to beat Bonnie Lustre was a sound third in the race won by King Hal at New Brighton last week. She will be better served by the sprint distance at Addington and should again be hard to beat. Sextant has not need since last August but has been in solid work for some time now and made a bold showing at the Ashburton trials last Tuesday. He is not always reliable at the barrier, but on his day has returned efforts which would give him a chance in this field. Gay Baron paced a fair race for ninth in the New Brighton Cup and very little Improvement would be necessary for him to be prominent in this field. Bespoke and Direct Rhythm look to be the best prospects among the remainder. The double will be run on the President’s Handicap and the Holmea Handicap. Most of the field in the first leg contested the New Brighton Cup a week ago. Aquaplane and Terynran, second and first respectively at NeAv Brighton, are selected to dispute the finish in today's race. Glldirect Guiseope, Kingsdown Patch and Queen Ngaio are others expected to race prominently. Au Fait, Mighty Hanover, and When are three of the best straight-out trotters in commission and should fight out the finish to the second leg. They will not have things their own way and Merry Nora, Rock’n Robin, Highland Glen and Spinster Scott should be capable of making them work hard. Fine weather Is forecast for today and the track should be in splendid order.
