New Port For Iraq
(N.Z. Press > BAGDAD, March 27 The Prime Minister, General Abdul Karim el Kasaem, yesterday laid the foundation stone of Iraq's new port on the Persian Gulf at Um Asir, about two miles from the border of Kuwait. This will be Iraq's first direct outlet to the gulf, bypassing the Shatt al Arab, the joint estuary of the Tigris and Euphrates, which Iraq shares with Persia.
