HEAD OF FUND FOR CHILDREN

Brigadier Boyce To Visit City

Brigadier T. W. Boyce, director-general of the Save the Children Fund since 1947, will visit Christchurch from April 7 to April 10. Brigadier Boyce served in the First World War and in 1918 transferred to the Indian Army, in which he served for 30 years, until 1948. Much, of his service was particularly concerned with military intelligence. The Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Persia. China, and Iraq are among the areas in which he has served. In India he became deputy-director of military intelligence. During the last few years Brigadier Boyce has visited Save the Children Fund projects in Germany, Greece, Italy, Austria, Malaya, the Middle East, Sudan, Korea and Kenya. In 1957, at the request of the Uganda Government, he visited Uganda to make a survey of the best way the fund could help children there.

In Christchurch, Brigadier Boyce will address a public meeting on April 7. The Mayor (Mr G. Manning) will preside. On Saturday, April 8, Brigadier Boyce will meet delegates from the 12 branches of the fund in New Zealand.

On Sunday former officers of Brigadier Boyce's regiment, the Royal Irish Fusiliers, will entertain him.
