Cricket SCHOOLBOYS’ MATCH
Marlborough Beaten
A Canterbury primary schoolboys’ cricket team beat the Marlborough representatives by five wickets, on Saturday. The match was evenly contested, with Canterbury left to score 53 runs for the outright win in 45 minutes. The features of the match were the batting of R. Kennedy and T. Harnett (Marlborough) and R. Todd. K. Walker and C. Knowles (Canterbury). Scores:— Marlborough 102 (R. Kennedy 34. K. Patchett 10. T. Harnett 22 not out. P. Heissenbuttel 13; D. Hadlee one for 22. R. Todd one for 11, K. Walker tnree for 13. P. Fazakerley three for 30. B. Cox one for 4) and 65 (T. Harnett 19, G. Adams 12, R. Kennedy 21; P. Frazakerley seven for 20). Canterbury 105 for six declared (R. Todd 27. C. Knowles 39. P. Fazakerley 22 not out. K. Adams 13 not out; P. Heisenbuttel three for 19. K. Patchett one for 35, P. Hood two for 9) and 65 for five (K. Walker 36 retired. C. Knowles 10 not out: P. Heisenbuttel two for 17).
