MR A. R. RYDER

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. March 26. Mr A. R. Ryder, the first principal of the Rotorua High School and principal for 15 years at the Whangarei High School, has died in Auckland, aged 73. Born at Oxford and educated at the Christchurch Boys’ High School and Canterbury University College, where he graduated master of arts and master of science, Mr Ryder was a keen sportsman, and was a Rugby representative both for his university and his province. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs Patricia Campbell, wife of Brigadier T. M. Campbell, New Zealand Forces’ representative in Washington, and a son, Mr Derek Ryder, a surgeon in Nelson.
