A BUSY DAY

4 New Zealand and Canter- ■*■ *■ bury lawn tennis selector and member of the Canterbury association’s management committee, M. C. Healey, also gets plenty of play in the game he helps to administer. On Saturday he spent most of his time on the courts at Wilding Park from 9.30 a.m. to about 6.45 pm. Healey began his day with a mixed doubles match for Cashmere I in the senior mixed competition against Elmwood-Shirley, partnered by Mrs E. Campbell. They ■win. He then beat A. N. Wallace in his singles.

In the afternoon. Healey played for his team. Cashmere. in the senior men’s competition against Woolston and because each fielded only three players he took part in both doubles matches, partnered by B. J. Shirlaw and S. W. Bullen. Cashmere lost both, but because Cashmere won two of the singles the teams were 2-2 and Healey had to play the third singles beginning about 5.30 p.m. He won this crucial match from R. Neumann in three sets. On Sunday afternoon Healey was at the Cashmere club—playing tennis.
