PRICES AND COSTS

Farmers See Ministers (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 21. The general economic situation of New Zealand’s farming industry was discussed by a deputation of Federated Farmers with the Acting-Prime Minister (Mr Marshall) today. Also present were the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand), the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Gillespie), and the Parliamentary Under-Secretary to the Minister of Finance (Mr Seath). The deputation included the president of Federated Farmers (Mr W Malcolm) and the general secretary (Mr A. P. O’Shea). "We discussed the position of farming in relation to prices and costs,” said Mr O’Shea later.

He said the deputation made specific suggestions but he was unable to say what they were.
