Salvation Army Plans
Plans for marking the last five of the international Salvation Army’s first 100 years with “the distinctive contribution of the Salvationist to the nation” were laid before officers’ and soldiers* councils in Wellington recently. The seventy-eighth annual territorial congress was attended by more than 1000 delegates from all parts of New Zealand. The recruitment of more officers within the Dominion, the penetration of the “nonchurched'’ sections of lihe population, and the reaching of teenagers with the “mixed-club plus” programme of the International Torchbearer Movement were among the many matters reviewed.
