Speedboat Racing TWO NATIONAL RECORDS SET
New Brighton Club At Lakeside Racing over a measured kilometre, P. Knight and R. Calvert set two new national speedboat records on the Estuary during the week-end. Knight’s boat, Bel Air, was driven at more than 60 miles an hour, almost six miles an hour faster than the New Zealand record he established earlier in the season. Calvert’s 75-cubic inch boat. Susie, beat J. Shaw’s record by 2.56 miles an hour. The speed was 50.26 miles an. hour’. In the afternoon, the New Brighton Power-Boat Club held a meeting with the Ellesmere Aquatic Club at Lakeside.
