Charrington’s Interest (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, March 20. A decision on whether the British brewing company. Charrington and Company, Ltd., of London, will establish a £3J million brewery in Melbourne will be made on Tuesday, April 4. The Australia co-ordinator of the project, Mr Noel Grave, a hotel broker, said this yesterday after a meeting of about 200 freehold Victorian hotelkeepers. “We are confident of getting the support of enough hotelkeepers to make the project economical." he said.

The British company wants a guarantee of eight million gallons of Victoria’s annual beer sales before it will establish the brewery. The annual Victorian beer production at present is 72 million gallons.

York Motors.—York Motors (Holdings), Ltd., yesterday announced a 36 per cent, increase before tax, in consolidated net profit for the year ended November 30 last. The consolidated net profit rose 17 per cent, to £171,505 (last year £147,097), after taxation of £101.942 (compared with £58,458). An Interim dividend of 71 per cent, will be payable on April 26.—(N.ZJ’A.)

Name of Ansett.—Ansett-Ana may change its name later this year, the general manager, Mr F. Pascoe, said yesterday “We have thought about it quite a lot, but if we do anything about a new name it won’t be before the end of this financial year,” he said. He said the composite name was taken when Ansett and Australian National Airlines joined in October, 1957. The name now had become established in Australia.—N.Z.P.A.
