YOUTH SENT TO BORSTAL

To satisfy his whim the prisoner had pursued the girl, who was a complete stranger to him, with purpose and some brutality and had only been thwarted by the arrival of other persons, said Mr Justice Richmond in the Supreme Court yesterday. Ivan Noel William Barlow, aged 19, was sent to Borstal for a period of up to three years when he appeared for sentence on a charge of assault with intent to commit rape at Bumham on January 16.

Barlow, who was represented by Mr B. J. Drake, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court and was appearing for sentence. The Crown was represented by Mr C, M. Roper.
